Primary Goal

The goal of this position is to work collaboratively with schools to address special education programming, procedural compliance, educational accountability, and instructional improvement for all students with disabilities. The Exceptional Children’s Facilitator works collaboratively with teachers, school psychologists, parents, related services personnel, and other school staff to assure that psychological reports, medical reports, IEPs, achievement test results, and instructional data are available to assist in identification, eligibility, placement, IEP development, service provision, and instruction for students with disabilities.  

 

Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (Masters preferred)
  • NC educator licensure (or eligible for) in an area of exceptionality
  • Five or more years of successful teaching experience in special education 
  • Extensive knowledge of a variety of instructional and social emotional strategies
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently on NC Policies Governing Services for Children with Disabilities   
  • Extensive knowledge and ability to model and assist EC teachers with collecting data and developing individualized educational plans and/or behavior support 
  • Knowledge of Federal and State laws, policies, rules, practices and procedures related to Exceptional Children services 
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students, administrators, and other staff.  
  • Experience coordinating and delivering professional development

Ability to compare and analyze instructional and behavioral data
